After months of beta testing and further development the xmoov FLV player is now ready to be released, well almost. We are now working on the documentation, setup tutorials, 3d animated demo videos and the final version of this website. Lots of thanks to the beta testers who helped us make the xmoov FLV player a truly universal hi-end video player for internet professionals.
The final release of the xmoov FLV player has lots of new and exciting features like a multi-language interface, caption support, even more styling options, a customizable context menu (right mouse click), and improved CPU usage just to name a few. We are not releasing any information on the licensing model until the new website is online but will be releasing two versions, a less featured BASIC version and a full featured PRO version.
This is just the beginning; we have a whole line of hi-end flash applications on the way so stay tuned if you are looking for ways to enrich the user experience for your visitors.

The xmoov FLV player is an embedded (Browser based) Flash video player developed with the interests of web professionals in mind.
Our first beta release focuses mainly on bridging the gap between progressive and expensive streaming systems, alternative approaches to bandwidth detection and offering more control over player without requiring any flash knowledge.
As previously mentioned, it is not our goal to create an "all mighty" video player overloaded with features. Our goal is to keep the main player unit light-weight, universal for most deployment environments and expandable.
The xmoov FLV player supports interactive flash pre/post-rolls as one method of adding additional functionality. We can custom tailor any further special features and functions if needed.
Configuring and customizing this player is as flexible as it has ever been using the classic approach of Flashvars in combination with easy to understand CSS style-sheets or dynamically generated XML text files. This approach lets your video player grow with you and gives you the ability to deploy one player with a different appearance and feature spectrum for public and closed member areas.
Skinning and styling via CSS or XML allows you to adapt your video player to your existing corporate identity and even use one player with different appearances for multiple websites. Skins are loaded externally and supports JPEG, GIF, PNG and SWF files.
Bandwidth detection is virtually invisible and constantly adapts to bandwidth fluctuations. We use an on-the-fly approach that uses the video being played rather than loading "dummy" that measures bandwidth only once. The initial bandwidth detection occurs the first time a video is played. The results are saved on the viewer’s computer and updated as major fluctuations occur.
The advantages of streaming systems are clear but obviously expensive. The xmoov FLV player in combination with our open source xmoov-php script unlocks some of the advantages of a streaming video system and makes them available in a cost effective progressive environment.
Using the xmoov FLV player with xmoov-php allows viewers to seek and play parts of a video that has not yet loaded. Furthermore, a video will continue playing from the current position when switching to full screen view using a popup browser window. These features are also available to other streaming alternatives such as lighttpd.
Our open source xmoov-php script also allows you to save costs by throttling bandwidth. The bandwidth throttle can also be set dynamically allowing you or even your viewers choose between 3 presets (low, mid or high).
Using this method is not just for the "little guy" as it has so far proven itself worthy to our clients who are beta testing this for mid to large scale projects.

The xmoov FLV player is a closed application and is available in two versions:
xmoov FLV player embedded full version for internet/intranet deployment.
xmoov playback engine component for integration in offline applications such as CD-ROM presentations.
Clients will receive hands-on support for the embedded version during the beta phase.
